PICS FROM WEEK ENDING 10-10-19

We finally had a rainy day so we had enough
time to get out the dress up box!

Lots of Show and Share Coupons this week!

Firefighter Pete, Caleb and Sara taught us about
the importance of smoke alarms and having a
family meeting place.

We were so sad when the Pixie Tricks Series
ended this week! We loved every minute of
the eight books even though we still had our favorites!

We made fairy houses as a special book activity!
It was amazing to watch these kids work together to
make their houses. They worked the entire time, shared
supplies, helped create, admired each others' work and had
a great time. The weather was perfect...
couldn't have asked for a better day!

We had GUESS BOX!
Of course the kids won...again!
We were excited to get our own pixie bag!

Oh yes...we had a few builds as well :)!

Happy Long Weekend!

NEWSLETTER 10-10-19

Hi! What an exciting week! We learned about fire safety from Firefighter Pete on Wednesday. We finished the book series, PIXIE TRICKS, on Wednesday. We made fairy houses on Thursday. We also had two Guess Boxes! We learned about the artist, Edvard Munch, and his painting, THE SCREAM. We made our own versions of his painting. We will be starting a science unit on Sound and Light next week. We will also be doing a small study on Pumpkins.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We started writing our own version of PIXIE TRICKS. We also wrote about the life cycle of our butterflies.
As books come home, shorter books are supposed to be read in entirety. I will usually tell the kids on longer books to pick their favorite page or chapter to share or take turns. You can believe them :)! We’re all at different stages in our reading so I go by each individual. I like you to see the books your child reads that is why I still send the longer ones home. It’s also a good quick fluency practice.

MATH

We worked with number stories to practice addition and subtraction facts. Children are encouraged to count up to find the difference. We are also using double facts to help us solve other addition problems. If you know 5+5=10 then 5+6= one more than ten.
