Pics From Week Ending 9-3-21

Hi! Welcome to our first batch of pictures. You will see the most recent pictures first so basically Friday pics back to Monday pics. Feel free to screen shot or drag any off of your child you would like to have and use. Here's my disclaimer....I try my VERY best to get all of the kids. Sometimes they blink, come out blurry, refuse a picture (hard to believe I know haha) or they might not even be in the room at that moment. You will still see your child lots this year and hopefully get a better glimpse into the life of a VCS First Grader! :)

We have LOTS of STEM things in our room!!
We've already checked many of them out...so much fun!

We had Guess Box!
It's like 20 Questions.
We got really sour gum in it.

We have sloths and First Graders in our room this year!!

More STEM building.

Sharing our puzzle pieces.

Enjoying a treat after our scavenger hunt.

Outside during library the kids found these really cool creatures.
Mrs. Shannon looked them up and found out
they were exoskeletons of cicadas!

First Day of School Pictures...
Thanks for the help, Mrs. Shannon!

Our very first Morning Work on Day One!

It's going to be a great year!

Happy Long Weekend!!

First Grade Newsletter 9-3-21

Hi! What a great three days we've had! I can already tell it's going to be a super year! We are busy working on our new routines. We had a scavenger hunt through the entire school. It ended up leading us back to our classroom where there was punch and plastic sloths. Of course there were sloth cups and straws, too.

We've been waking up our brain by doing lots of Big Books, shared reading and word work. We practiced counting up and back by 1, 2, 5 and 10. We are working on printing neatly and using lowercase letters.

On Friday, September 10th we will be having a special name day. Please have your child bring a baby picture in their folder inside a labeled envelope. We will be playing a guessing game with them. You will get the pictures back! Please have pictures to me by Thursday so I can get the game ready. We will also be sharing how we got our names. Please talk to your child about how you came up with his/her name. You can write it on a piece of paper to help them remember.

You might have noticed we have some specials more than one day. Please have library books returned on or by Friday each week.

Again, we are off to a fantastic start! I couldn't be more pleased. Make sure to check the blog at the end of each week to see new pictures and information.

OUR FIRST DAY 9-1-21

Hi! We had a wonderful first day of school! I’m really excited to be back!  We are going to have a super year!

I have enclosed our specials schedule and class list. Please note the days that the specials are on. Sneakers should be worn or brought for Phys. Ed. Library books should be returned on or by Friday each week. We will be eating at 11:25 each day. We will go outside twice each day. Feel free to put an extra bag of clothes or keep a sweatshirt in your child’s locker in case of mishaps or changing temperatures.

I will be emailing home newsletters each week. This will keep you informed of what is going on in grade one. You can also check my blog for information at:  www.http://vcslk1.blogspot.com. Everything I send home, including homework, will be placed in your child’s folder. There will be no homework the first two weeks of school. Please make sure your child brings his/her folder each day. This is a good way for you to send in notes. I check folders first thing each morning. Another good way to reach me is by email, lkimball@veaziecs.org. I check my email throughout the day. I also check it at night and on weekends.

Reminder about transportation schedules...if your child’s schedule is going to change, I need a note or phone call from you. I cannot accept a verbal message from your child for safety reasons. Also, the earlier you can let the school know, the better. Last minute changes are hard when trying to get classes packed up and out.

Once again, I am really looking forward to this year. Together, we can make this a great year for your child!
