11-20 NEWSLETTER

Hi! Our room is looking more and more like a fairy tale castle each day! We are having lots of fun with this unit. The kids are doing a great job at learning their lines for the play. We have started putting actions in and even tried out the stage today!! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Tuesday, Dec. 8th at 8:30 a.m. We can’t wait to show you our show!

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We did lots of fairy tale comprehension activities. We took a short nap after we read THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA ;)! We turned ourselves into our favorite fairy tale character and wrote about it. Ask your child which one s/he picked. We wrote about what we want to be when we grow up and made swans after reading THE UGLY DUCKLING. We caught THE GINGERBREAD MAN and had a delicious snack. We also talked about the fox in the story and how he and the wolf always seem to get a bad wrap. We watched the video, WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? and wrote what we think the fox really says.
We started a new morning paper. The kids practice writing a site word four times. They then have to read the four sentences to someone. As these papers come home, please have your child read you the sentences. It helps with fluency and site word recognition.

MATH

We finished our unit three assessments and started unit four. We will be doing lots of measuring. Right now we are measuring with various objects. However, we will work into feet and inches.
