SECOND GRADE NEWS 2-3-17

Hi! It’s so good to be back with the kids. Now, if I could just stop coughing, things would be perfect! We got lots done! We did a great science lab that dealt with figuring out the different matter inside balloons by investigating the properties. We will keep up with this unit the remainder of the trimester.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We did mini research papers on pandas! First we did a panda art project. We then read books and used our Chrome books to find information about them. We used this information to answer questions and then to write a paper. We talked about how we need to hook our readers so they will want to finish reading our stories. They definitely got the concept!

Sixth grade came down and read to the Primary Wing Buddies. They shared Valentine’s Books and reminded us how much fun it is to hear people read. Share a book with your child sometime soon :)!
MATH

We are doing lots of word problems. We are practicing figuring out what each problem is really asking us to do and what information we actually need to solve it. We took predictions on the groundhog and his shadow…lets just say we unfortunately predicted wrong! Six more weeks of winter ;(!
