Hi! For a short week we sure got a ton done! We did LOTS of apple activities. We made and ate applesauce and apple pizza. We tried dried apples and apple cider, too. We rewrote a book called Rain Makes Applesauce. Ask your child where we found a little red house that has a little brown chimney and has no doors or windows but does have a star inside! We read apple poems and stamped an apple on one. We read Six Big Apples. Make sure your child reads you their copy of Rain Makes Applesauce and Six Big Apples this weekend.
In math we worked with number stories (basically word problems of the past). We looked for where the story starts, how it changed (plus or minus) and then where it ends to help us solve the stories. We looked for different ways to show the same number. We played roll and cover where we roll two dice and then look for the answer to cover. The player that can cover the most numbers wins. We are still working hard to get our numbers going the right direction.
You might have heard...We are doing a play! It is called The Ugly Pumpkin. We will perform it for family and friends on Tuesday, October 31st at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. The play is about 10-15 minutes and then we will invite you back to the room for some stories and refreshments. The script that came home today can stay at home. It would be great if your child could practice reading his/her lines.
Have a great, long weekend!
