PICS FROM WEEK ENDING 10-17-19

We went to the Veazie Fire Station!

Thank you Firefighters Pete, Caleb and Sara for having us!

It was a little too sunny for our group pic!

We stopped for a quick pic on the walk back.

A few Show and Share coupons were used.

How could you not just love these children?!

Here's to a fun, energetic, sweet bunch of first graders!!

Happy Weekend!

FIRST GRADE NEWS 10-17-19

Hi! For a short week we sure were busy! We walked to the fire station. It was fun seeing all the trucks and equipment. We especially loved sitting and climbing in the trucks! We started FLEX today. Ask your child which group s/he is in. We briefly started our Light and Sound unit. We will get into it more next week.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We started reading CHARLOTTE’S WEB. We will learn about spiders as we read this wonderful story of friendship. We read the book, THE LEGEND OF SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN. We made our own unique pumpkins and wrote about what makes us special.
We wrote about our fairy houses and our trip to the fire station. We worked with adjectives and ordinal numbers as we read the big book, THE COSTUME PARADE.

MATH

We practiced counting up and back on number lines and number grids. We played Subtraction Bingo. We practiced the two ways to find the difference between numbers...counting up and counting back.

SILENT AUCTION INFO

A COZY NIGHT IN

Primary Parents,

Please help us by donating something for our Silent Auction Box. Our theme this year is “A COZY NIGHT IN.” The V.C.S. P.T.O. Online Auction runs Nov. 25 through Dec. 3. All money made from the auction helps support our school’s field trips, author visits, curricular and co-curricular programs plus more!

Some items that would fit in our box are: board games, card games, DVDs, blankets, pillows, books, stuffed animals, cozy socks, candles and snacks. We will be collecting items in our all of our PreK through Grade Two rooms starting Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Nov. 22. We will also be looking for something to put the items in. Thank you in advance for your help.

We have created an online sign up to help make sure we get a variety of items. Here is the website: Cozy Night In. However, we will still take donations either way.

Thank you in advance for helping with this event!
