FIRST GRADE NEWS 10-17-19

Hi! For a short week we sure were busy! We walked to the fire station. It was fun seeing all the trucks and equipment. We especially loved sitting and climbing in the trucks! We started FLEX today. Ask your child which group s/he is in. We briefly started our Light and Sound unit. We will get into it more next week.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We started reading CHARLOTTE’S WEB. We will learn about spiders as we read this wonderful story of friendship. We read the book, THE LEGEND OF SPOOKLEY THE SQUARE PUMPKIN.We made our own unique pumpkins and wrote about what makes us special.
We wrote about our fairy houses and our trip to the fire station. We worked with adjectives and ordinal numbers as we read the big book, THE COSTUME PARADE.

MATH

We practiced counting up and back on number lines and number grids. We played Subtraction Bingo. We practiced the two ways to find the difference between numbers...counting up and counting back.
