FIRST DAY...HOORAY!

GRADES 1-2 NEWS
AUGUST 30

Dear Parents,

Hi! We had a wonderful first day of school! I’m really excited to be back!  We are going to have a super year!

I have enclosed our specials schedule. You can always find it on the Blog by clicking on the Specials Tab above. Please note the days that the specials are on. Sneakers should be worn or brought for Phys. Ed. and Health days. Library books can be returned on or before Library day. We will be eating at 11:00 each day so we will have an afternoon snack this year. Our room is a PEANUT-FREE room.  Please, save peanut snacks for lunch or home. We will go outside each day. Feel free to put an extra bag of clothes or keep a sweatshirt in your child’s locker in case of mishaps or changing temperatures.

I will be sending home newsletters every Friday. This will keep you informed of what is going on in grade one. You can also check my blog for information at:  www.http://vcslk1.blogspot.com. Progress Notes will begin coming home mid/end September each Friday.  Everything I send home, including homework, will be placed in your child’s folder. There will be no homework the first two weeks of school. Please make sure your child brings his/her folder each day. This is also a good way for you to send in notes and lunch money. Lunch money should be in an envelope that has your child’s name on it.  I check folders first thing each morning.

Reminder about transportation schedules...if your child’s schedule is going to change, I need a note or phone call from you. I cannot accept a verbal message from your child for safety reasons.

Three important dates: Friday, Sept. 1st we will be walking to the river. Please have your child wear sneakers. Wednesday, Sept. 13th  at 5:30 is our Open House. Come see our classroom and eat spaghetti. Wednesday, September 20th is Picture Day. More information coming soon.

Once again, I am really looking forward to this year. Together, we can make this a great year for your child!

Sincerely,

Laurie M. Kimball
