NEWSLETTER 9-27

Hi! We have had a very productive week! We worked some more on our friend unit and added in some apples in honor of Johnny Appleseed. We made apple pizzas and applesauce. Thank youto the parents who sent in items for our cooking activities! The kids LOVED using the apple-peeler-corer (Thank you PTOfor purchasing it!) and cutting up the apples. We will continue with both themes next week.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We read lots of apple poems and apple books. Everyone took home at least one book for homework this week. PLEASE, make sure to listen to your child read their homework book to you and return it in his/her folder the next day.
We worked on making sure our sentences have a noun and verb in them. We are also working VERY hard to make sure we are forming letters and numbers correctly. If you see your child writing at home, please make sure they are starting letters/numbers from the top. Many of them do not even require you to pick your pencil up. We’re working on quick formations to help us in our writing.

MATH

We are working at breaking a part number stories to help us figure out what they are looking for. The start - change -end boxes help us do that. We are practicing counting up to find the difference between numbers. We are working on doubles so that we can know them instantly. Car rides are perfect for practicing these! We are working with double up through 12 +12. Although I have thrown in some tens doubles such as 20+20 or 30+30. Knowing doubles quickly will help them transfer knowledge to figure out odd ball facts.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

● A huge THANK YOUto Corrine and Eli for donating to our treat box this week! Remember anything goes...kids LOVE stuff you are going to throw away, Happy Meal toys, party souvenirs, Dollar Tree or Target Dollar Spot trinkets.

HAPPY WEEKEND!
