FIRST GRADE NEWS 11-8-19

Hi! It was wonderful to see so many of you for conferences. It has been a great week! We finished up our Sound and Light Unit. It was fun experimenting with light to see how it can be used for communication. Our next unit will be on Native American Legends.
Just a heads up...I will not be at school next week. Mrs. Libby will be substituting. The children know and love her. Of course Ms. Bouchard and Mrs. Harrison will be helping out as they usually do. I have lots of great things planned for them. If your child’s transportation schedule needs to change, please call the school.
READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We talked about diaries and then tried writing our own from a spider’s viewpoint. We also read the book, DIARY OF A SPIDER. It’s amazing how much their writing has changed already.
We started reading DRAGON MASTERS. It is our new chapter book series. The kids are very into it already!
MATH

We are putting away the paper clips and cubes for measuring and are using rulers from here on out. We are practicing using the invisible zero to line up at the beginning of the object we are measuring.
