Hello! We had another great week in grade one. We are getting to know our routines. We did lots of talking about how everyone is different and how we should appreciate that. We are learning how to become CHAMPS in school. Gems are a huge incentive in this.
Thank you to everyone who sent in baby pictures and talked to their child about their name. We had so much fun guessing who was who. The kids were so cute sharing how they got their name. We did a special project that is now hanging in the hallway. (I used tape on the back of pictures so they would not be harmed.) I will send them home when I take them down.
We had a minion day! First Graders are one in a MINION. We did a direct draw to practice our listening skills and wrote all about what makes us on in a minion!
We started using the chrome books. We worked on logging into Google, using a bookmark, using Portaportal and finding sites on it. I will be sending home their passwords as soon as we become more comfortable using them. This way they can use the sites at home if they want to.
We have a UMaine student coming every Monday. Ms. Boudreau will be spending 100 hours in our room learning about teaching. We welcome her!
We will be starting spelling next week. You will get a list of words on Monday that your child will be assessed on each Friday. We will practice them at school. Home practice will help, too! We will start with the same lists as we get to know the program and then lists will become more individualized.
Reminder: School picture day is Thursday, September 22.
HAPPY WEEKEND!
