Hi! What a week! I feel like the play was a month ago! Let's start out with the play. I couldn't be more proud of your children! What a great job they did in their performance! They worked so hard learning lines, songs, movements and how to use a microphone. They also were great host/hostesses for all of their guests. It was great seeing so many friends and family members at the performance. It made the kids feel really special!
If performing a play wasn't enough, we had lots of special activities the rest of the day. We "trick or treated" for pumpkins, bats, rats and ghosts on the playground. We brought in our "loot" to sort and add up points. We played Bingo. We also had a special touchy - feely story. It was a great day.
For the month of November we are writing in gratitude journals. We have read books and talked a lot about recognizing the things in each day that we feel thankful for. Thank you for helping your child remember to bring in three pieces of their candy to give to the firefighters as a show of our appreciation for them. We also made cards for them.
We wrote riddles about our favorite Thanksgiving food. We used describing words to help write clues. You can try to solve them when you come in for conferences. They are hanging in the hallway.
You will NOT get any UFLI homework next week. Since it is a short week, we will spread the review of all vowels over the next two weeks. I will wait until the full week to send it home.
Permission slips for a trip to the Planetarium are in your child's folder. We will be going with our peer helpers on Friday, November 17th. No chaperones are needed since they will be sitting with their sixth grade buddy.
We started our first Science unit. It is on Sound and Light. Ask your child how sound is made!
Parent / Teacher Conferences are Tuesday and Wednesday. I sent home reminders in your child's folder today.
There is no school on Thursday, Nov. 9th and Friday, Nov. 10th.
Happy Weekend!
