NEWSLETTER 3-7-17

SECOND GRADE NEWS 3-7-17
Hi! Our week started off with excitement as we celebrated the end of our DRAGON MASTERS series with Dragon Day! We made dragon stone necklaces, dragon eggs, dragon eyes and of course...dragons! I’d like to especially thank the PTO for sponsoring our special activities. Our day was a huge success!
We took a look at fossils this week to see how we can tell if habitats change over time. We also learned the difference in mammal skulls vs. reptile skulls. This is how we know the dinosaurs were reptiles. We also learned how scientists use animals of today to tell about animals of long ago. We tried out their information to see which dinosaur we run like. It was fun using math and science to come up with our data!

We are working with area and perimeter with Miss Noel. As we find the area we are practicing multiplication without even knowing it! We use inch squares to make arrays so we can figure out the number model.

We started reading a new series called MY FATHER’S DRAGON. We are happy to keep the dragon theme going!

Our third Flex session began today. Ask your child what they are doing in Flex for the next seven weeks.

This is the last Newsletter and Progress Note before vacation. Homework for vacation week is to keep reading!!

HAPPY WEEKEND!
