First Grade Newsletter and Pics Week Ending 5-28-21

Hi. It was a hot and cold kind of week...how weird is our weather?! We were busy with our regular schedule as we added in lots of ocean information. The kids love talking about ocean animals! We started reading the book, Andre. If you or anyone in your family were able to see the actual Andre, make sure to tell your child all about it.

We took the first of our last two NWEAs this week. Math went very well. We will take the Reading one on Wednesday.

We started writing fish stories. We learned to use Kiddle.co, a kid friendly search engine, so we can start our ocean animal research.

We had fun running around the loop out front to get misted by the sprinklers on the way back from our recess break. Such a fun way to cool off!

Pics from Week Ending 5-21-21

Looking at these pictures makes me actually sad school is coming to an end so soon! These kids are the absolute best! We have the best time each day with them. This week we learned all about rivers. We took a walk down to the Penobscot River to observe and do some writing. We found Cry Baby Sour Gum in the Guess Box. Their faces were priceless as they tried it out. We painted and then labeled the parts of a river. We also used how to use Google Docs!! We will be using our new skills to write ocean animal reports. If you haven't been down to the Veazie Riverside Park, it's definitely worth the trip!

Happy Weekend!
