FIRST GRADE NEWS
NOVEMBER 9
MRS. KIMBALL

Dear Parents,
Hi! It was nice to meet with so many of you this week. We learned about sound and light in science. We had fun making up ways to communicate with light. We sent out many of our Flat Selves in Social Studies. We also learned about the different parts of a map like the compass rose and map key. We will continue with these themes through November.
We had a Veteran's Day Celebration on Thursday. We sang Patriotic Songs and got to hear Mr. McGovern tell about his work with the Navy on submarines. It was so cool and interesting!
We finished Unit Three in Math. Unit Four will work with comparing lengths, measuring with samelike objects, adding doubles and adding three numbers. It is important that first graders can answer double addition equations quickly with out having to count out the answer. Any help wit memorizing the double facts from zero to fifteen would be awesome! Just saying them in the car on the way to an errand is practice enough :)!

We will not have Progress Notes this
week since we had conferences.
