Hi! What an exciting week! We learned about fire safety from Firefighter Pete on
Wednesday. We finished the book series, PIXIE TRICKS, on Wednesday. We made fairy
houses on Thursday. We also had two Guess Boxes! We learned about the artist, Edvard
Munch, and his painting, THE SCREAM. We made our own versions of his painting. We will be
starting a science unit on Sound and Light next week. We will also be doing a small study on
Pumpkins.
We started writing our own version of PIXIE TRICKS. We also wrote about the life cycle
of our butterflies.
As books come home, shorter books are supposed to be read in entirety. I will usually tell the kids on longer books to pick their favorite page or chapter to share or take turns. You can believe them :)! We’re all at different stages in our reading so I go by each individual. I like you to see the books your child reads that is why I still send the longer ones home. It’s also a good quick fluency practice.
We worked with number stories to practice addition and subtraction facts. Children are
encouraged to count up to find the difference. We are also using double facts to help us solve
other addition problems. If you know 5+5=10 then 5+6= one more than ten.
