NEWSLETTER 12-1-17

Hi! What a great week we have had! I think the kids definitely had a great break and came back ready to work. We’ve got lots done! We started learning about needs vs. wants as a part of our Economics unit. We will continue with this topic through December.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

Our room is filled with holiday books and the kids are loving reading them all during Reading Workshop! We’ve also used the holiday theme in our writing. We wrote opinion papers about the type of Christmas tree we like best, real or artificial. We made trees to go with our papers. We worked with adjectives to describe a holiday sweater. We also learned about homophones by doing a homophone “scavenger hunt” with our peer helpers.

MATH

Both grades are working with base ten blocks to practice place value, greater than, less than and addition. We are working on time to the minute and money as well.
