NEWSLETTER 9-14-18

Hi! We survived our first full week even with one late night! The kids are definitely starting to get used to their new school routine! It was great seeing so many of you at Open House. The kids were so excited and proud to be able to show you around!

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We are using our spelling words to practice word families with the short a sound. We are doing lots of word work to get us ready for guided reading groups. We played blending games, made flip books (rhyming books), read big books, did Make-A-Word and read poems.

MATH

We are doing LOTS of counting by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. Anytime you get a chance please count with your child. Car rides are a great way to practice counting. We learned some new math games:  Number Squeeze, Top It, Penny - Dice and Bunny Hop.

Math homework will begin coming home on Monday. There will be no homework on the weekends.

ITEMS OF INTEREST

* Wednesday, September 19th day is Picture Day. Forms came home today.

* If you send in a special treat for your child's birthday or an other occasion, please remember we have a peanut allergy in our room. Thank you!!

* A huge THANK YOU to two of our classmates for bringing in treats for our treat box!!

HAPPY WEEKEND!
