Hello! What a beautiful week! It's just keeps getting better each day! Let's hope this weather stays till Spring. One can hope, right?!
We started Monday by learning about Día De los Muertos. It's a Spanish holiday. Thank you Adrian, Rubén's dad, for coming in and teaching us about it. We loved hearing the monster story read in Spanish. We also enjoyed the craft.
A little later on Monday, we had a great time building fairy houses in the woods along the path in back of the school. When we came inside from making them we found Sprite's magic bags. We were so excited to be royal pixie trickers now! We used our pixie tricking skills to write book nine of the Pixie Tricks series. It's called Pixies at VCS. We each wrote about how we tricked an escaped pixie in our school. The rough drafts are hanging in the hall. The published version is in our cubbies for us to read. It'll come home as we finish reading them. We also had a yummy snack. Pixie Cupcakes, juice boxes and Beastie Bites! Thank you, Echo for the cupcakes and Brooklyn and Reese for the drinks.
We had a special lesson about bats led by Ms. Boudreau, our UMaine 100 hour student. We had Miss Jen, our VCS occupational therapist, in for a handwriting activity. Peer helpers were here to review letters, numbers and word families with us.
We have started reading turkey books and poems. We wrote about our "pet turkeys" and drew/painted our own turkeys.
I am sending home conference reminders today. If your note doesn't make it home, you can email me or call the school office. We can let you know the time if you need it.
We got so much work done this week we earned Afternoon Break! Many chose to use our classroom's maker space to create special masterpieces. We are always looking for treasures to create with. If you have any extra things at home that look like something we could create with, we'd love to have it. (left over fabric scraps, scrapbooking paper/borders, stickers, sequins, empty paper towel rolls, buttons, ribbon...anything goes. Just has to be able to fit on our shelf.
The Primary Wing is creating a box for the PTO online auction. A paper came home today about it. Here is the link to our sign-up: Link.
Thank you Stanley and Rubén for the treats for our treat box!
There is no school on Thursday, Nov. 10 or Friday, Nov. 11.
Have a great, warm and sunny weekend!!
