12-18 NEWSLETTER

Hi! This will be the last newsletter of 2015…can you even believe it?! We have had a busy week. The kids are doing their best to contain their excitement and get some work done :)! We had fun making some surprises…can’t say what but you will find out soon. We got to go on some in-house field trips. Thursday morning we went to fourth grade and listened to their research on famous people. Thursday afternoon we had a special visit from Canon’s family. We enjoyed spending some musical time with them! Friday we went to the middle school arcade. They actually made all of the games themselves!

We have some more fun activities planned for next week. Monday, our wing will “travel” through four countries to see how they celebrate Christmas. Our Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade groups will intermix as they do activities in Mexico, Germany, Italy and England. Our plane “leaves” at 11:50 and “returns” at 2:00 if you want to stop by.  Don’t worry, we already ordered our passports ;)!

On Tuesday, we will open our stockings to read all of the kind notes our classmates wrote to us.  We will share our holiday readers’ theaters with Pre-K and Kindergarten. After lunch, our Primary Wing will turn into a Cinema. Students will get to pick which short holiday film they would like to attend, after they go to concessions :). We will end the day together as an entire school family at our 1:00 assembly in the gym. Should be a great two days!

ITEMS OF INTEREST

*  We were scientists on Monday as we experimented with light.

*  We taught Pre-K and Kindergarten how to read reindeer books. We had fun using the
books to do some word work with them!

*  We talked about needs and wants with our Peer Helpers.

VACATION HOMEWORK

There is no actual assignment. However, please have your child try to read as many days as possible for at least fifteen minutes. It is really important for them to keep reading so that they do not regress over vacation. If you want to practice math, addition facts to ten should be known quickly. Skip counting and any type of board or card games are great!

Happy New Year!

I have enjoyed working with you and your child in 2015. I know 2016 will be even better! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and restful vacation. Thank you for all of your support! See you next year ;)!
