NEWSLETTER 6-3-16

Hi! We have been so busy this week! We had the best time walking down to the river. We saw many artifacts that actually came from the Penobscot River, heard Native American stories about how the river was formed and even created our own art.

We went and watched the 8th grade musical, Beauty and the Beast. It was absolutely wonderful! We can’t wait for our turn on stage!

Books for Bikes has officially ended. Ask your child who were the lucky bike winners in our room. Congratulations to everyone who participated! Everyone truly won because we all became better readers!
READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

I have been doing end of the year reading assessments with the entire class. I have to say I am so proud of these kids and how far they have come in their reading! This also gives you parents a huge shout out for all the times you listened to or read to your child this year! It really shows! PLEASE, keep your child reading over the summer. It is so important that the kids read so they don’t go backwards from the “Summer Slump.” Twenty minutes before bed is a great habit to have. The VCS library is open on Wednesdays if you need books :)!

MATH

We finished our Everyday Math book! We are currently working on the End of Year Assessment.  Don’t forget that IXL is a great way for your child to practice the skills they know!
