Hi! I'm definitely ready for the rain to stop! First Graders need time outside to run and play. We did scoot down to the gym today to have an inside recess down there, though. We were busy this week with LOTS of projects. We made grass heads, monkeys, sloths, butterflies, bunnies and baskets. We also started a Lorax project.
We made a special Layers of the Rainforest book. You can read about each layer and then open it to see what it looks like. We wrote Haiku poems about sloths. We wrote in our plant journal after measuring how tall our grass is getting.
Our room is looking more and more like a rainforest. The real building happens Thursday and Friday of next week. We can't wait for you to see it after the play!
Many of us can say our lines without our scripts! We will start stage practice on Monday. Remember to mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 10th at 8:30. We will perform our play in the cafeteria and then invite you back to our room to hear our stories and see our rainforest! The whole thing should last about 30 - 45 minutes. Family and friends are invited.
We are in need of Clorox wipes. Our messy projects this week depleted what we had left. If you have an extra container at home or are willing to buy one, we'd appreciate it!
Next weeks UFLI is the long o sound that is made with a silent e at the end. (o__e)
Our last swim/gym will be Thursday, April 4th. Please send your child in comfy clothes and with a bathing suit, towel and goggles (optional).
Happy Weekend!
