We practiced tally marks in Math. This was hard for many. Any practice at home would be great. We're working on being able to make and count tally marks up to 25. We learned how to play Top It (the olden day version of War). We played Rock, Paper, Scissors as a fun way to practice tally marks. We practiced recognizing and ordering numbers 0-22. We are working to be able to do this to 100.
We made our own Pokémon cards and Pokéballs. We wrote about our strengths and what might zap our powers.
Baby Picture / Name Day was fun! What adorable babies!! The kids, and teachers, had fun trying to guess who was who. We did a special project with the pictures after that goes with the book, Dandelion. You will get your picture back unharmed in a couple of weeks. Right now they are hanging in the hallway so everyone can see them. We also read the book Chrysanthemum. We passed around a huge heart and every time we heard something unkind in the story we crinkled the heart. After the story we tried to smooth out the wrinkles and heal the heart. We found out that sometimes unkind words, unfortunately stick with us even when we do get an apology. We talked about how we need to think before we speak so we don't hurt anyone. We also talked about ways we can make hearts stronger by saying nice things, helping and including others.
We met our sixth grade peer helpers this week. We had fun playing get to know you games with them!
