SECOND GRADE NEWS 3-24
Hi! This has been a very busy week! We started learning about the different kinds of habitats in the world. We paired up to do a research project on one of them. Each pair will have to teach the class about their habitat next week! We also started learning about mammals. The PortaPortal now has a special heading called zoos. The kids love to check out the webcams and find animal information on them!
We finished Unit 7 in Math. We took our assessment today. They will come home on Monday. Unit 8 is mostly Geometry. We will be working with two and three dimensional shapes.
We got mail from our pen pals. They were worried about the blizzard we had. They think about us when they see Maine on the news! We made them an ABC book about Maine. Each person was responsible for a page. They had to research the topic and then write about it. They also had to find a picture of it and send it to me so I could print it for them. It’s amazing what they can do on their Chrome Books!
We finished up our ELA unit on Fables. We’ve had some great discussions on what each one was trying to teach us. We were able to browse many different chapter books and put down our top three choices. We will begin reading one of our choices next week. We will be reading to ourselves and then meeting to discuss the chapter orally and in writing.
Swim is going great! This class is a bunch of fish! We will swim again Tuesday...don’t forget swimsuits and towels :)!
