Showing us how to code!

Sharing a Dr. Seuss book with the class.

This is one of the coolest things we have done!
Think Escape Room / Scavenger Hunt all tied into a couple of boxes with lots of locks!
You have to find clues, solve problems, break codes, solve riddles to get into the boxes.
It was AMAZING to see the kids actively work together to solve this!

The only thing that was told to the kids was that Thing One and Thing Two had stolen
The Cat in the Hat's hat. They needed to work together to get the hat out of the box.
Start with the small box and work to the big box.
That was it! The kids had to search the room to find the problems to solve.
They scanned bar codes, used Chrome books, found coordinates on a map, put a
puzzle together and even used a special light to look for "invisible" words.

They rescued the hat and got an award for their hard work.
Some quotes from the activity:
"This was intense!"
"I thought so hard that I actually sweated!"
"This was challenging and frustrating but I loved it!
"This was so fun!"

This is quickly becoming one of our favorite times of the week.
Each Friday afternoon, if all work from the week is done,
students choose how they will extend their own learning.

Researching and Writing.

Writing a Story.

A biography poster on Dr. Seuss.

Studying crystals.

Studying Dinosaurs.

Non-fiction Posters.

How to Draw.

Football Stats.

Coding!

We wrote on buckets about five places
we would like to visit and five things we'd like to do.
We wrote Alliterations on socks...
we used the same letter on as many words in
one sentence as we could. They were tongue twisters!

We drew and painted circus tents.
We wrote about the acts that would be in our circus.

What a great week!
Have a super weekend...stay warm :)!
