FIRST GRADE NEWS 10-4-19

Hi! We have had a busy week! We finished up our mini unit on Johnny Appleseed. We made applesauce. Our room smelled soooo good!! We also used paper strips to weave an apple basket. We put apples in our basket that said words that describe ourselves. They are hanging in our room.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We are rocking our Reading Workshop time! Ms. Bouchard is in with us so we can split up to make sure every child gets a guided reading group every day! We are doing lots of work with blends and short vowels in Word Work. We also worked on adjectives and reviewed verbs and nouns. We played Kahoot to practice.

MATH

We finished Unit 2 and started Unit 3. Unit 3 works with finding parts and totals. We used dominos to practice finding the two parts and total. We then used the three numbers to make a fact family. We learned a new doubles game. Keep practicing those doubles up through 12+12 and combinations to make ten. They should be automatic.
