FIRST GRADE NEWS 2-18-22

Hi! What a fun week! We had fun celebrating Friendship Day, going to the UMaine Planetarium, watching the middle school circus, eating s'mores, building space stations and watching a space musical in our pajamas! It was the perfect way to head into vacation!

A Look Into March and April

We will be learning about the rain forest and environmental issues in science and social studies. We will also be doing a swim/gymnastics unit for Physical Education. Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade will be bussed to the Old Town YMCA every Monday beginning March 7th. They will travel by grades through three rotations (swim, gymnastics and turf field games). Bus will leave at 12:30 and return at 2:30. We will go four times. You will get a permission slip and swim survey on the first Monday after vacation. I'm telling you the info early so you can get swim suits out. Students will need a swim suit and towel each Monday. Goggles are optional but cannot cover the nose.

Vacation

I hope you all have a wonderful vacation. PLEASE make sure your child reads throughout the vacation. We are on the downhill slide to Second Grade. Also, extra practice with time to the minute would be great! We will also start working with counting coins and 2D/3D shapes after break.

HAPPY VACATION!!!
