Hi! What a great, four day week! We finished up our train unit with four train stations on Wednesday and a train ride on the DownEast Scenic Railroad on Thursday. K-2 kids were mixed up and traveled to each of the four primary rooms to do a different train activity. They made train whistles, conductor hats, drew trains and even at edible trains! The kids did so great working with their mixed groups. They were also awesome on the train ride! It was great to see their little faces light up as we rode the train! Thank you to the parents and PTO for making this happen! It's going to be a tradition that we do every three years now.
We went down the path behind the school to find some leaves. We used them to do leaf rubbings that we later wrote about in our Autumn poems.
We are spending one last week on a vowel review and then we'll begin all new UFLI lessons. UFLI homework will start Monday, Oct. 20. We will have UFLI assessments on Fridays. You will get more info about ways to help your child practice our weekly sounds that Monday.
We welcome Brooklyn Fick, a Husson elementary education major, who will be spending 30 hours this semester in our room.

* Friday, October 24th - October Flex and Hullabaloo 5:00 - 6:30.
* Wednesday, October 29th - Field trip to The Grand to see Frogtown Puppeteers present The Headless Horseman.
* Friday, October 31st - We will be doing some fun academic based Halloween activities. We will NOT be wearing costumes. I'd love someone to send in cookies or cupcakes, juice boxes, a bag on individually wrapped candy. We would need 16 of whatever you would like to send. Just email me so I know who's doing what. (We've got the dessert filled. Just need juice boxes and candy.) Thanks!
