GRADES 1-2 NEWS 3-30-18

Hi! It finally feels like Spring!! We were very lucky this week and
were able to go to the Old Town YMCA twice! Some of us even
chose to try new activities there. Make sure to ask your child
about it. We started talking about landforms. We will use this
information to do some research next week. We will continue
with maps until April Vacation. After vacation we will switch to
Extreme Happenings where we learn about fast and slow changes
to the Earth.

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We wrote back to our pen pals. They are shocked we still have snow!
We replied, “So are we!” We are now writing stories. Reading is extra fun
because the kids are loving some new books I bought for the room.
The kids are also taking turns each week being in a Readers’ Theater
with Miss Pelletier. This week we watched a group perform, The Popsicle
Boy. It was hilarious. We had popsicles after! As the weather gets warmer,
it’s harder to keep up the reading. Even fifteen minutes before turning out
the lights at night really helps!
