GRADES 1-2 NEWS

Hi! Let’s hope yesterday was our last snow day! We have had a fun
week dressing up in honor of Dr. Seuss. We have also been learning
more about maps. We will continue with this next week and add in some
leprechaun fun. We welcome Ms. Pelletier to our room. She will be student
teaching with us for the next six weeks. We also have Mr. Jason finishing up
his second one hundred hour study with us on Mondays, Tuesdays and
Wednesdays. It’s great to have so many adults in the room so we can break
into small groups and get lots done!

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

Ms. Pelletier worked with a group to put on The Cat in the Hat Readers’ Theater
for the Primary Wing. The kids did a great job reading with fluency and expression.
We are taking advantage of her theater background and having her work with a
different group each week on reading with expression. We worked are working
with contractions and ‘s to show possession in Language Arts. We also got letters
from our California pen pals so we will be writing back to them next week!

MATH

It’s amazing how quickly the kids are working through the leveled math sheets in
the morning. Many have started multiplication. We have practiced figuring out how
to find the answers. However, it will take lots of practice to get these to be automatic.
Any practice at home would help a lot!
