NEWSLETTER 12-14-18

FIRST GRADE NEWS
DECEMBER 14
MRS.KIMBALL

Dear Parents,

This is our last newsletter of 2018...can you even believe it?!!! We have been super busy this week finishing up units and doing some holiday projects. We have "traveled" to France, England and Germany to find out how they celebrate holidays in December. Next week we will travel to Mexico, Italy and then home to the United States. A special thank you to the PTO for supporting our travels and special activities in each country.

Next week is Spirit Week! Join in the fun by dressing in the following ways:

Monday 12/17
VCS Spirit Day
Wear your favorite VCS apparel or school colors.

Tuesday 12/18
Holiday Hat Day
Wear your favorite holiday head piece...hats, scrunchies, headbands.

Wednesday 12/19
Holiday Colors
Wear your favorite holiday clothes/colors.

Thursday 12/20
Pajama Day
Wear your favorite pajamas. Feel free to bring a favorite stuffy as well.

HOLIDAY STOCKINGS
You might have heard about one of our projects. We have made stockings that are hanging in our room. Each day we write letters to our classmates to put in their stocking. We will open our stockings on Dec. 20th. I told the kids if they wanted to they could bring little things into put in them. I told them they did not have to go buy things. If they happen to notice 15 Hershey Kisses in a candy bowl at home they could ask to take them.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS

If you haven't been over to The Hathaway's house yet to see the lights, you should definitely try to swing by. Santa will be there Saturday night from 6-8 with milk and cookies. You can also sit in your car and enjoy the music and lights any other night from 4-9. All donations go to Norther Light Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The address is 21 Hillview Drive in Bangor.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING

If you are looking for some good board games or other presents, here are a few good ones:  Racko, Sequence for kids, Farkel, Yahtze, Math Die Jr., Skipbo, Uno, Clue Jr. Monopoly Jr or regular and Battleship. Games are great for math, social skills and family bonding! Other ideas:  writing supplies (post its, notebooks, colored pens, mini stapler, paper, scissors, how to draw books ect.) - These will make your kids just want to write even at home! Books are also always a terrific gift.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and vacation. It's been a joy working with your children and all of you in 2018. I look forward to spending 2019 with you as well. Take time to enjoy your kids this break. They are truly amazing individuals! <3
