First Grade Newsletter 10-29-21

Hi! What a busy and fun week! Our Fall Festival Week was a huge success! Thank you for helping your kids with all of our special dress up days! We especially loved parading through town in our book character costumes! It was great seeing so many of you!

READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS

We finished reading the Pixie Tricks series. We figured out Pixie Sticks in the Guess Box. We made fairy doors with popsicle sticks, paint and glitter. We wrote a book called Pixies at VCS. We are ready to look for pixies now that we have our bag of tricks! Our new chapter book is Charlotte's Web.

We read and rehearsed three readers' theater plays: Five Autumn Leaves, The Terrible Fright and Big Pumpkin. We had fun performing them for Pre-K and Kindergarten. It was great to have an audience!

We read the book, Spookely the Square Pumpkin and then wrote about what makes us unique.

MATH

We practiced finding the three numbers in a domino (part, part, total). This helps us with learning addition. We practiced our double facts to twenty. We used dice to practice knowing our small addition facts quickly.
