First Grade Newsletter 10-27-23

Hi. It's really hard for me to write the happy go lucky newsletter I tend to write with everything going on in our state right now. However, your kids remind me daily of all that is good and right in the world. They are such a great group...so kind, caring and fun. With that in mind, here's what we did this week.

We went on a field trip to the fire station. We got to try out the hose! It was heavy and hard to turn on. We also got to sit in the fire truck and see the gear that firefighters wear.

We worked with doubles in math. We worked more with the short u sound. We read lots of books. We looked for small words in big words to help us figure them out. We did play rehearsal on the stage...fingers crossed we will have everyone here and ready on Tuesday :). We had Flex today. Those that were supposed to go to the planetarium will get to go next Flex Friday. We will use all donations collected this week for that trip.

The Hullaballoo is tonight from 5:00 - 6:30. Mr. Tweedie will be making a decision later today on whether it will be inside or outside. It will happening either way!

Monday, Oct. 30th we will do our play for PreK - Grade 4 as a dress rehearsal.

Tuesday, Oct. 31st we will do our play for family and friends at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. We will invite you back to room after for refreshments and stories. We will also be doing some special activities in reading and math this day. Reminder, no costumes during the school day.

Parent / Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday, Nov. 7 and Wednesday, Nov. 8.

No school for students Thursday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 10.
