Hi! It was great to see all of you this week! After two twelve hour days, let's see if I can remember what we did haha. We did lots of publishing. We rewrote our big book, Lazy Mary. Our new book is called Lazy First Grade. It's about a teacher trying to make her first grade class wake up! We also wrote a new version of Pixie Tricks. Each child or pair had to write how they caught one of the 14 pixies that escaped into our school. Hopefully the books made it home so your child can share them with you.
In math we are working a lot on skip counting, finding the parts and total of a number model, using a number grid or number line to help us add/subtract and frames and arrows. We are constantly saying: 1. Did it get bigger or smaller? 2. How much bigger or smaller. We also learned how to use a calculator to skip count, add and subtract. They thoroughly enjoyed this and thought it would be a great idea to use them for all of our math problems from this day on. Their idea got vetoed but it was a good thought!
We had a Veterans Day Celebration today. Mr. McGovern came in and talked about his many years on a submarine in the navy. He shared lots of great pictures and stories. K-2 sang a special song at the event.
We had some great shares this week from students that used their gems to buy coupons.
We learned to play Kahoot on the computer. Ask your child about it!

* Wednesday, Dec. 4 - PreK - 3 Music Concert.
* Friday, Dec. 6 - K - 3 goes to see the Frogtown Puppeteers present The Grinch at The Grand in Ellsworth. More info to come on that as we get closer.
* Friday, Dec. 20 - Flex and December break begins.
