FIRST GRADE NEWS

OCTOBER 4

Dear Parents,

     Hi! It's been an exciting week! We finished reading The Pixie Tricks series by Tracy West. The kids have absolutely loved these books! Today we did lots of special activities to say good-bye to our favorite characters. We made Sprite's special bag. We added Queen Mab's stone, the Book of Tricks and Pixie Dust to the bags. We are now all set to catch pixies. We made fairy houses along the path by the school. We are going to use pictures of our houses for a writing project.

     We are doing a play! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 31st at 8:30 a.m in the cafeteria.  Family and friends are invited to come watch us present The Ugly Pumpkin. We will invite you back to our room after for stories.

     We worked with ways to make ten in math. We also worked with how to tell the difference between addition and subtraction number stories. 

DATES TO REMEMBER

*  Space Walk - Bangor Waterfront 5:30 - 6:30 for those looking 

    for something to do tonight :). POSTPONED due to rain.

*  No school Friday, Oct. 5th - Teacher Inservice Day.

*  No school Monday, Oct. 8th - Columbus Day.

*  Friday, Oct. 12th - Flex begins. Firefighter Pete visits. Book 
    orders due.

*  Monday, Oct. 15th - Fire station field trip. We leave school at 

    12:15 if you would like to join us.

*  Wednesday, Oct. 31 - The Ugly Pumpkin at 8:30 a.m.
