First Grade Newsletter 9-3-21

Hi! What a great three days we've had! I can already tell it's going to be a super year! We are busy working on our new routines. We had a scavenger hunt through the entire school. It ended up leading us back to our classroom where there was punch and plastic sloths. Of course there were sloth cups and straws, too.

We've been waking up our brain by doing lots of Big Books, shared reading and word work. We practiced counting up and back by 1, 2, 5 and 10. We are working on printing neatly and using lowercase letters.

On Friday, September 10th we will be having a special name day. Please have your child bring a baby picture in their folder inside a labeled envelope. We will be playing a guessing game with them. You will get the pictures back! Please have pictures to me by Thursday so I can get the game ready. We will also be sharing how we got our names. Please talk to your child about how you came up with his/her name. You can write it on a piece of paper to help them remember.

You might have noticed we have some specials more than one day. Please have library books returned on or by Friday each week.

Again, we are off to a fantastic start! I couldn't be more pleased. Make sure to check the blog at the end of each week to see new pictures and information.
